How the Monthly Subscription Works

Dental Practitioners with Orthodontic Training:

1. Subscribe now and get immediate access to Module 1A.
2. Every two months after subscribing, you will get access to the next module in the numbered order.
3. If you complete a module early and want to start the next one, you can contact us at [email protected] and we’ll give you immediate access to the next module.

Orthodontists:

1. You may take any module as a stand-alone course. If you want to skip Module 1A and 1B, contact us. We can make special arrangements for you, depending on your qualifications and education.

All participants:

1. By subscribing, you get access to live monthly webinars, case studies, and Q&A sessions, hosted by Dr. Jean-Marc Retrouvey.
2. Successfully complete the quizzes and exam to receive an IFDE Verification of Participation document granting you 30 Continuing Education (CE) Credits per module.

What Will You Learn in

Interceptive Orthodontics?

The objectives of module 3 are to show that a good comprehension of the normal development of the primary, mixed, and permanent dentition are essential.

Once normal development is understood, then recognizing abnormal patterns of development and their influence on future dental and skeletal patterns will help the practitioner rationale the benefit of early intervention or of postponing treatment until the permanent dentition.

It will also allow the practitioner to judge if referring to an orthodontic clinic is preferable as the case is more difficult than what initially assessed.

Upon successful completion of Interceptive Orthodontics, participants will be able to:

• Analyze the occlusion in the primary and mixed dentition
• Diagnose a developing malocclusion
• Describe the etiology of the developing malocclusion
• Recognize developing malocclusions in the three planes of space
• Discuss growth patterns and the importance of growth prediction in orthodontic treatment
• Understand normal versus ectopic permanent tooth eruption
• Discuss interventions necessary to optimize eruption patterns
• Apply the appropriate therapy to a developing malocclusion
• Use utility arches effectively for upper and lower incisors control
• Use growth modification appliances when indicated. 

In the next Module 4, Most Common Malocclusions, participants will learn to:

• Diagnose the most common malocclusions
• Correctly present a differential diagnosis of the most common malocclusions
• Create a problem list to address these malocclusions
• Understand the most appropriate biomechanical system to address these malocclusions
• Prescribe the correct appliances needed
• Describe the most appropriate technique to resolve the studied malocclusion

What are the prerequisites?

Participants are encouraged to begin with Module 1A, and take the modules in the numbered order, as the content has been designed to build on the knowledge learned in the previous modules. Orthodontists may take any module as a stand-alone course (no prerequisite).

How many study hours is Module 3?

Module 3 should take approximately 30 hours to complete. The module is designed to require about 30 hours of effort, however the time frame and actual effort may vary from one individual to another.

Is IFDE an ADA CERP recognized provider?

Yes.

Will I receive CE Credits for Module 3?

Yes, after successfully completing Module 3, a verification of participation document will be issued. IFDE™ designates this activity for 30 continuing education credits.

How long will I have access to Module 3?

Your access to the online modules will be available until you cancel your monthly subscription.

How does the monthly subscription work? 

The subscription product is billed on a monthly basis until you cancel. 

How do I cancel my monthly subscription?

You can end your active subscription at any time from your own profile settings (account management page). You will be unenrolled from the course at the end of your current billing cycle.
